10 Most Frequently Asked Questions
I’m not a model and I have no idea how to pose. Will I look awkward?
Not at all! Honestly, about 99% of the women I photograph feel the exact same way. My job isn't just to click a shutter; it’s to guide you through every single movement. I won’t leave you hanging - if you need that support, I’ll show you exactly where to put your hands and how to sit so you feel comfortable and look amazing. We’ll keep things moving naturally so it never feels forced.
What if I’m not at my "goal weight" yet?
I hear this a lot, and I’ll be honest with you: your "story" doesn't start once you lose five pounds. It’s happening right now. Modern boudoir & empowerment photography is about celebrating the body that has carried you through life, worked hard, and grown with you. Through styling, hair and makeup and gently guidance, you will feel amazing. You are "camera-ready" right now.
Who actually sees these photos?
Only whoever you want to see them. Your privacy is my top priority. I never share images on social media or my website without your explicit consent. For many of my clients, these photos are a private "edition" just for themselves or a partner. You may choose for images with no facial recognition to be shared (just body shots), or you might be very happy for me to share a small selection of approved images. The control is all yours.
Do I have to wear skimpy lingerie?
Only if you want to! Boudoir is about what makes you feel empowered. If that’s a beautiful lace set, great. If it’s a silk slip dress, your partner’s favourite T-shirt, or a soft knit, that’s just as "sexy." We’ll chat about your wardrobe beforehand to make sure the outfits match your personality, or the vibe you’re going for.
I’m 40, 50, 60+... am I too old for this?
Absolutely not. In fact, some of my favourite sessions are with women in ‘mid’ life, or later. There is a certain confidence and ease that comes with age that you just can’t fake. Empowerment doesn't have an expiration date, and I promise you’ll love seeing the sophisticated, powerful woman who shows up that day.
Do you provide hair and makeup, or do I do my own?
Most of my packages include professional make-up because it’s part of the whole "pampering" experience. But you are welcome to talk this through with me, if you have concerns. It’s not about changing how you look, but about making you feel like the most polished version of yourself. Plus, it gives us a chance to chat and settle your nerves before we start shooting.
How long does a session actually take?
We usually spend about 2 to 3 hours together - including make-up time. This isn't a "rush in, rush out" kind of thing. We take our time with the pampering, have a coffee, and go through your outfits. The shoot itself is relaxed - we’ll stop for water breaks and outfit changes, and we don't stop until we know we’ve captured the shots you love.
Will my photos be photoshopped?
I believe in "polishing," not "changing." I’ll edit out temporary things like a bruise from walking into a coffee table or a skin breakout. But I don't believe in liquifying your body into someone else. My goal is for you to recognise yourself in these portraits, and fall in love with what you see.
What happens after the shoot? When do I see my photos?
This is the best part! We’ll schedule a "reveal session" (usually around two weeks later) where you get to see your gallery for the first time. You aren't just sent a link to a bunch of files; we’ll sit down together, look through the images, and you can choose the ones that speak to you most for your album or wall art.
I have scars/stretch marks—will they show?
They can if you want them to, or we can work with them if you’d prefer to make them more discreet. At Narrative London, I view these as part of your unique story, they map a beautiful path of where your body has been. Many women choose to embrace their “tiger stripes" like a badge of honour, but we can talk about your comfort level during your consultation. I’m here to make you feel beautiful, not self-conscious.
